MEASLES OUTBREAK IN THE UNITED STATES
The United States has recorded 5,182 confirmed cases of measles since the beginning of 2026, a level not seen since 1991, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At least eight deaths have also been reported, including those of very young children. This resurgence is attributed in part to declining vaccination rates and growing distrust of health authorities. The disease, declared eliminated in the United States in 2000 thanks to vaccination, is thus experiencing a worrying comeback in the country.
