PROTEST AGAINST DATA CENTERS IN EUROPE
The movement against the construction of data centers is gaining momentum in Europe. More than 100 organizations across some fifteen countries are holding rallies on November 6th and 7th to demand a moratorium on new large-scale projects. Opponents denounce their high electricity and water consumption, their environmental impact, and the disruption they cause to local communities. For their part, technology companies defend the infrastructure as essential for the development of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Europe must now reconcile its AI ambitions with energy and environmental concerns.
